Value-Based Outdoor Healthcare℠ (VBOHC): A Disease-Modifying Systems Model for Integrative Health
Value-Based Outdoor Healthcare℠ (VBOHC) integrates nature-based interventions, mindfulness practices, and systemic care design within value-based healthcare infrastructure to address chronic, behavioral, and metabolic diseases.
We conduct translational studies to evaluate how structured outdoor engagement combined with clinical and digital health monitoring, modifies biological, psychological, and quality of life outcomes.
Grounded in epigenetics, systems theory, and behavioral health science, VBOHC positions the natural environment as a therapeutic and preventive healthcare setting.
Using biomarkers (e.g., cortisol, HbA1c, IL-6), psychometric tools (PHQ-9, GAD-7, WHO-5), and digital dashboards linking ecological and health data, the study measures how environmental exposure enhances self-regulation, reduces inflammation, and improves chronic disease outcomes.
By merging ecological health infrastructure with environmental and clinical value-based care, our service based research aims to define and provide a scalable, equitable model that treats the environment as medicine—advancing disease prevention, population health, and healthcare innovation.
We curate carefully designed Intensive Outpatient, Day Treatment, and Community Wellness Programs for Chronic Disease Prevention & Management
(Mental, Physical, Neurologic)
Our treatment model is crafted to change the trajectory of a disease rather than just alleviate symptoms.
This is particularly crucial for chronic and progressive conditions.
Interventions that focus on mental health, such as mindfulness practices, and nature based interventions can be beneficial to understand the intersection of neurodegenerative disorders, chronic illness, and mental health.
Our focus is on the study and application of disease modifying therapeutic interventions that aim to:
-slow disease progression
-reduce relapse frequency
-lessen long-term damage
-provide prevention strategies for future generations
Our evidence-informed approach which incorporates the natural environment and somatic awareness, can serve as a potential avenue for
Disease-Modifying Therapies to understand impact of;
-Modulating the immune response
-Inhibiting inflammation
-Protect nerve cells
-Promoting mental health
-Reducing chronic disease
-Understand neuro-degeneration
-Promote regeneration

Oak Mountain Outdoor Healthcare℠
“We are not just treating symptoms — we are rebuilding health systems. Outdoor Healthcare stands for every individual’s right to heal in freedom, in community, and in connection with nature.”
Value-Based Outdoor Healthcare℠ (VBOHC) infrastructure requires merging the rigor of healthcare systems design with the adaptive, ecological, and systemic logic of outdoor environments.
Global Vision Statement for VBOHC
"To lead a worldwide transformation in healthcare by integrating nature-based, value-driven interventions into standard practice—where every individual, regardless of background, can access outdoor health experiences that prevent disease, enhance resilience, and promote lifelong wellbeing. We envision a future where communities, healthcare systems, and ecosystems thrive together, guided by research, innovation, and a commitment to equity, sustainability, and human potential."
Core Aspirations Embedded in This Vision:
Global Leadership in Measurement-Based Outdoor Care – Setting standards for research, training, and clinical application of nature-based interventions and environmental accommodations.
Universal Accessibility & Health Equity – Ensuring outdoor health interventions are available to all communities, especially those who experience systemic oppression and abuse.
Prevention-Focused Healthcare – Shifting the system from reactive treatment to proactive disease prevention, empowerment, and resilience building.
Integration Across Systems – Embedding outdoor health/environmental accommodation strategies into hospitals, primary care, schools, workplaces, and public policy.
Sustainable Co-Thriving of People & Nature – Promoting environmental stewardship as an integral part of human health.
Empowered, Informed Communities – Enabling individuals to take active, informed roles in managing their health and taking action to live life’s full potential through connection with nature.
